More Respite care
& respite facilities

An alarming number of families that have their Respite care paused, cancelled, changed, or stopped due to shortage of qualified carers, suitable venues, flat allocations, or other departmental resources.

Makeshift provisions are always desperately sought by a department which works tirelessly to give more. They fight very hard to find venues to be able to offer respite, often having to depend on other departments to lend them these venues. When they do, they often find that they outgrow them quickly. This is the news we never hear.

The news we hear from the government is always positive, but the equally important realities that SNAG is also compelled to highlight are always backed up by the accounts of families who are near breaking point, and by many professionals who find that they do not have the adequate resources to be able to give families what they need.
